Okay so I am doing a lot better now than last week. Woohoo!
I just have to remember where my priorities lie, and to whom I am responsible. The little spiral of madness sent me on a big research adventure. For two days straight, I studied obedience and revelation. It was a really frustrating thing to feel like my mission president placed more worth on the rules than upon the worth of souls.
We have really been able to make a lot of progress with the Pyu Family. The family from Burma (now Myanmar). They have some really awesome stories. They come from a land that is completely different from what I have known and always seen as 'normal'. They were a country that was completely closed off from the rest of the world for a long time, and the father was involved in the rebellion efforts against the corrupt government. They were able to get out of the country and move here to Germany about 21 years ago. The mother of the family was baptized around 20 years ago, but lost contact with the church shortly after that. Now they are firmly anchored here in Germany, and now that we have found them and built up contact with them, she is active in the church and her family is learning more and more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have loved the opportunity to teach this family, and they are one of the reasons why I keep going :)
Beyond this family, there are some other really cool developments happening in the ward. We recently recieved a new ward mission leader who I think will do a great job. Our connections with the ward have been steadily increasing, and we are now at a point where if the members come in contact with people who are interested in the gospel, they will feel comfortable with passing them on to us. The number of activities in the ward has also increased. We now have activities happening fairly regularly where we can actually invite investigators and create a good connection from the ward to the investigators. It's excellent.
The transfer is almost over. Transfer calls will be on this coming Saturday. The outcome will most likely be that I leave Kassel, but hopefully I will be blessed to stay here and see more blessings and miracles occur here.
I will definitely let you know when I receive the package from you! I'm super excited for it :)
That's such an awesome city that you were able to visit in Texas! haha. Ah man, I want to have a city like that to visit where everyone speaks German... It would be my own little Germany inside of America :) It would be so cool. If you ever need anything translated... I'm here and ready!
Jake Potter is engaged!
I am back up on my feet and moving forward. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. It brings comfort to know that there are certain people who will always love me and be there for me.
Love,
Elder Braden Thorkelson
