Week 3 - Noodles

Wowzers. I have almost been gone a month already.

It´s insane! I feel like I just got here, but at the same time, every single day here feels so long. haha. Science.

Hmmm... This week I have no news about birds. I am so sorry. Currently there is a storm brewing outside and the power went off twice while writing, so you can imagine how stressful typing this is right now. I have gotten pretty good at Volleyball. I impress the others when I block them and they are 7 inches taller than me. Ha. silly Missionaries. Also... Noodles. If a person were to live for an eternity without the gospel, he would eventually turn into a noodle, because the sun would die and turn into a black hole... - This is what missionaries talk about at lunch. You are welcome.

So Presidente Casteñeda is still quite the character. He drove by our class at 9 at night, sang a song with his family completely interrupting our class, then left. This guy is amazing and he just does what he wants. haha.

We had a great devotional the other night. It was an older broadcast from Provo with Elder Bednar speaking. Now normally I think Elder Bednar is sorta intimidating, but while he was speaking to a bunch of missionaries, he was just being a goon sometimes. It made it so much better. It was about how we all need to act in the ¨character¨ of Christ. Meaning, not the selfish things that you and I do naturally. As we forget about ourselves and think about others, it will bring happiness naturally. I know this. You just simply cannot make yourself happy through yourself. This is my good thought for the day. Stop thinking about you. :)

Yesterday was Elder Curran´s birthday. He is my roommate/workout buddy. And his mom sent him like, a 10 pound dense, moist, chocolately chocolate cake, through the Mexico MTC care package thingy. It was amazing. So far we have gone through 1/4 of it lol. So nice. Also, Elder Curran just sprained his ankle moments ago and has crutches now. nerd. haha.

Anyway, these are the most exciting things that happened to me this week. Much learning and Spanish. It´s amazing what I am able to learn in such a short time. I love it.

HEY! And if you want to send me ¨Mail¨ mail for my last 2 weeks in mexico, send an email to:

WITH the subject as: Elder Shawn Thorkelson 11B

Love you all! Hope you´re doing well! :)
