Dia 210, Potatoes!

Hi fam once again,

Well well well... yet again we had quite an interesting week here in Yorktown.
At the beginning of the week we had to drive up to San Antonio again,
but this time to finally conquer my companion's nasty toe. It was
gross. And by gross I mean, I watched them inflate his big toe with a
numbing substance and then cut out the ingrown toenail with scissors
(just kidding, I didn't watch, that was nasty)... and the doctor took
a picture of us to show his Mormon friend and said, "more missionaries
with ingrown toenails." What a life. We celebrated with Chick-fil-a.

The very next day, I got a package! I was pretty excited, like who
would send me a package? It was like 5 pounds and from my
Grandparents! What could it possibly be?! I situated myself in my
camper and opened the box to find a bunch of Idaho potatoes that I'm
sure my Grandpa handpicked. Haha. I love my grandparents.

Then it was Thanksgiving! What a day. We went to a couple families to
have lunch with them. It was a grand ole time and I played some pretty
dang good ping pong. I was just really in the zone and unstoppable.
The food was alright, none of it really blew my mind or anything, but
I'm super grateful for the members who love us.❤️

The very next Morning we received a call from a less active member who
we weren't planning on visiting that day, but he said he had 2 wild
hogs and needed help cleaning them... yay.
Sure enough we got there to see 2 hogs hanging from a tree. Yorktown
is funny. I claimed the job of maintaining the fire (where we threw
the gross stuff). If there's one thing I can do, it's make a really
good fire... so yeah that was really unexpected.

The rest of the week passed and it seemed like a pretty slow week. But
sure enough, we still had a good amount of lessons. It's funny how
that happens. My investigators are progressing, slowly but surely. It
is fun to see the progression.

Today were transfers and we found out that my Dear Elder Simmons is
heading to the only other area with a camper, so ... lol. I'm staying
in Yorktown! I am going to be companions with Elder Christensen! It's
sorta funny because we have been on exchanges a couple times already.
But this transfer will be great. We are gonna finish of the work that
has been started and I am excited.

I started the Book of Mormon over recently and it has been really
enjoyable so far. Nephi had himself a fun family. It's just so crazy
how relatable the Book of Mormon is to life currently. I know that the
Book of Mormon was restored for the people of our day and through the
Book of Mormon we can gain so much more knowledge and appreciation for
our Savior! That has helped me a lot lately and I know it can do the
same for you all. I hope we can all do the best we can to come closer
to the savior this Christmas season in order to feel much much joy. If
you can, watch the new Christmas initiative! It's super different and
neat.

I love you all! Keep me updated and spread the good word!

Elder Thorkelson
