March 4, 2013

March?? already?? man. So crazy. Time has gone by so fast. I actually was curious about my release date because of my silly MTC pilot-program thing... and apparently, I only have like 11 months left! my release date is February 18th, 2014. I went into the MTC on March 14th 2012... Interesting, neh? I would have the option to change my release date to April 6th... but I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. It's still a year away.

We ARE getting new things for the apartment! Schwester Nestvogel is moving, and she is going to give us some of the things that we need ( a couple new bed frames, desks, a matress or two!) ah, it's so awesome. I'm way too excited for it. I will be so glad to have an apartment/haus in amerika where I can have nice things that aren't destroyed from years of missionaries who don't know how to take care of things :)

Don't worry about the packages. I have been really really ridiculously bad at sending things back home.

What kind of car did you get for Shawn? Will shawn be going up to BYU-Idaho? or where is shawn thinking about going to school? Oh man it's so weird to think that shawn will be in college! We can have classes together! :D haha. As for transfering schools and stuff, I've only been accepted into BYU idaho and to Utah State. I'll have to figure something out if dad get's a job somewhere cool where I would want to go. But yes, I'm just planning on working at Applebee's somewhere in Utah or Idaho, and saving up money for a cool van, going on a road-trip to the east coast with the aforementioned van, and then going to school. All of these Germans have seen more of America than I have! haha. So I want to go see everything. I have quite the 'bucket-list' compiled.

During the last few weeks, we have met a member from our church from Pakistan here in Germany. It took me a while to remember, but for some reason I felt like I had a connection to members in Pakistan. It was though Grandpa Tom! We have talked about so many things, and he is so excited to have the church growing so much in Pakistan. His name is Asif Nazir, and he has a wonderful family who is still in Pakistan. He has one return missionary, and two currently preparing to serve missions.
What has made this really special is that we have recently found 2 men to teach the gospel who are from Pakistan! There is a strong language barrier, but through Brother Nazir, we are going to overcome the barrier and help them to find faith!

And as for avoiding getting sick... that didn't happen. I've been dealing with green phlegm for the last week. It's kinda lame... but whatever, I'm taking my vitamins and hoping to get better soon.
I love you all!
Elder Braden Thorkelson
