Haha, sooo this week was a good week. It started off interesting. Lol,
so the other Elders don't have their bikes yet so they have to borrow
ours. They thought it would be a great idea to ride through a field as
a short cut. They soon discovered that that was really dumb as they
came out of the field with 3 completely flat tires. The Mesquite
needles got them. Haha nerds. So they bought us new tires. A couple
days later I noticed another needle stuck in my back tire and decided
to pull it out. As I did so, the tire blew up in my face and the slime
stuff in the tube went everywhere too. Haha I will attach a picture of
mother nature's wrath. It's fine though, my tire sealed up nicely.

I decided to start writing in my journal in only Spanish and that's
been helping me a lot. It's actually super easy so that's neat. I love
Spanish.
Speaking of Spanish, almost all of our investigators are in Spanish so
I love that. It's amazing how many people here in Del Rio don't speak
English para nada. Pero, things were moving pretty slow at the
beginning of this week. Not much happening and people canceling
appointments. Then, near the end of the week we had a lesson with the
Falcon family and they are sweet people. They are keeping their
commitments and paying attention really well. Apparently Hermana
Falcon was not interested at all a few months ago, but now she wants
to go to church! It's sweet!
We met another nice little Mexican family of two and they were really
wanting to know more about church. Soon after that, we biked home a
little early because a storm was moving in on us. We beat it home and
soon after, the rain was coming down hard. And just kept raining and
raining for the next day and a half. Sooo in Texas, they don't have
rain gutters, it's a silly thing. They'd rather just have the whole
town flood, so that's what happened. Haha a mini flood. It was so
cute, and made it really difficult to go places.
| just me being a nerd with a flood in the background |
Oh yeah, also, this really old wrinkly lady kissed me on the cheek
because of the culture and stuff... That was weird...
Anyway, we had a referral to a little town called Bracketville that's
in our area. I was pumped because I have always wanted to go there.
It's about 30 miles away. We contacted them last night and it was the
best. The referral was this 14 year old and we get there and his whole
family wants to listen. A family of 5. About half way through the
lesson, I had the feeling like, wow, this family is actually ready for
"the question" already. So adrenaline was building and I was pumped to
ask them "the question" .... Then we get to the end and I'm just
sitting there waiting for my companion to shut up and you know what
happens?? My companion has the audacity to feel the same thing as me
and popped "the question" to them. The whole family accepted baptism
and the mom was talking about how she feels like little things in her
life have been preparing her for this gospel! No way! Plus! Even
better, church is 30 miles away and they don't even have a problem
with that. They were so grateful and happy for us to be there. This is
why I'm a missionary! It's sweet! 😁
And that is how my week ended, so I was pretty pumped for that. I
really needed that boost this week. It was so great. I just love these
people here, they are the best! Except for this drunk guy who yelled
at me when I was backing up the car. Lol. He told me that I don't
belong in his neighborhood and that he's Catholic. Haha, I thought,
hey that's neat, I'm a person too, bye!
| my companion looks funny while he concentrates, lol. |
Soooo yep, I hope y'all have a great week and keep doing things that
are the opposite of dumb. Los vemos.
